A strategic planning document describes an organisation’s future direction. It sets the organisation within the context of its mission, and states its financial and social medium-term objectives (3 to 5 years), in the light of its strengths and weaknesses and of the environment in which it is developing. The business plan specifies the resources (monetary and human) necessary for the achievement of its objectives and determines their source. The set of elements contained in the business plan establishes the ways in which the organisation will achieve its objectives. The business plan is approved by the governing bodies, who monitor its pertinence. It must be regularly revised.
