An entity’s written charter, comprising a certain number of compulsory elements, which set down the entity’s aims as well as the rules governing its operation. These elements include, among others: the organisation’s designation and its headquarters, the aims, the resources, the members (if the need arises), the governing and management bodies and their rules of operation (definition of the respective roles of those involved in governance: decision-making powers, the power to act) and the terms of ownership of assets in the case of a change in the statutes.
